Softears RSV RS5 In-Ear Monitors
Reference Sound: 5BA In-Ear Monitors
Another leap on our own shoulders
Based on the success of current flagship RS10, we reconsidered some key concepts of the designs. Even though RS10 hold its ground as a reference in ear monitor, complex crossover makes it hard to drive, so we start to develop an avant garde BA In Ear Monitor with easier drive requirements.
Hear the Truth
After one year and half of research we bring the all new RS5, a 5 driver BA with similar reference sound performance. Not only that, brand new driver configuration and crossover make RS5 very easy to drive, you can hear satisfactory dynamics even with conventional mobile phones.
Satin carbon
Fiber Fragments & Gold Foil
The prominence of an earphone is not all about its sound. The combination of satin fiber fragments and gold foil resembles a clash between cutting-edge material and antique precious metals. Every pair of RS5 has its faceplate handcrafted by our skilled technicians and has its very own textile. This handcrafting process makes RS5 like an artwork rather than just earphones.
Sound Concept
With great sound comes great design requirements. RS5 not only effectively combines acoustical filters with crossover to make the BA drivers produce excellent dynamics under the requirement of nearly perfect frequency response and almost linear phase, but this is also truly a remarkable feat of audio engineering.
Design Concept
The design concept for RS5 is to use effective architecture to make simple driver configurations sound extraordinary, pushing the efficiency of BA drivers in the earphones. This also makes RS5 capable of reproducing astounding dynamic and rich detail with accurate frequency and phase.
Acoustic Design
Utilizing acoustical filters and crossover, RS5 delivers astonishing audio performance.
It consists of a 3rd order LRC filter for bass, impedance+low pass for mid-range, and film capacitor for high frequencies, totaling 6 components to divide signal properly into 5 drivers.
Taking advantage of precise 3D printing, we created a cutting-edge acoustical filter on RS5, adjusting the diameter and length of the sound bore in an accuracy of 0.1mm, coupled with acoustic dampers, to reach ideal tuning.
Frequency Graphs
This frequency response simply proves RS5’s proeminence on crossover and tuning. The bass texture acquired by measuring the HRTF of high-end speakers and reverberation became the basic framework of RS5’s tuning. By matching that target response and achieving a close fit, RS5 delivers natural sound with immersive, lively timbre.
One other crucial reflection of crossover is the phase of the response. Most of the multi-driver on the market cannot handle phase into consistency, creating freakish inconsistency of timbre and imaging. RS5 ensures high consistency of phase across the audible spectrum, making smooth transitions between drivers and pinpointing accurate soundstage.
Another important aspect of the crossover system is the phase response. Most of the multi-driver designs on the market cannot achieve phase consistency, obstructing the timbre and imaging. The RS5 ensures a high consistency of phase across the audible spectrum, creating smooth transitions between drivers and a highly accurate soundstage.
Hear the Truth
RS5 still uses universal 0.78mm 2pin sockets to let you choose the cable you like, or switch to Bluetooth cable for versatility. This socket gives RS5 many possibilities.
